Tommy Bombon is an independent
IT Consultant offering IT to
Business Alignment and Integration Analysis,
Automation Planning, IT Project Management leadership
and general business process management guidance. He leverages 30 years of
multi-functional and cross-discipline experiences
culled from working for a major construction and engineering firm based in
San Francisco.
From a humbling start as a Junior
Draftsman, he worked his way to many roles and responsibilities that
enabled him to advance and transition from design and engineering to Information Technology
where he honed various credentials that include: technical,
supervisory, frontline leadership, organizational, project management,
business alignment, and project team building. He has constantly proven his ability to incorporate "just in time"
technology solutions to many business requirements and challenges.
Tommy completed two years of engineering studies from
the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, prior to immigrating
to the US. Two years prior to leaving a distinguished career at Bechtel,
in
what he considers "the longest but the best college internship anyone could
have," he completed a two-year BS degree program in Information Technology while
working full-time as a senior corporate IT analyst and specialist. Going
through and completing the quite daunting schedule at University of
Phoenix (UoP) program has only added current academic acumen to his real-world
skills and work experiences. He has completed
Bechtel's extensive Supervisory Training Certification Program, a Zenger-Miller Frontline Leadership certification
and is also a Six Sigma
Performance-based Leadership Yellow Belt trained and tested -- working on four
major process improvement projects that resulted in corporate-wide overall
work process improvements and major cost savings.
A firm believer of life-long learning, he continues to
pursue learning with on going training and programs. His interest
in the nascent Biotechnology industry lead him to complete a three months certification course in Biotechnology
Manufacturing, gaining foundation knowledge and credentials
needed toward his future foray in the Bioinformatics arena. He is in
the process of applying for an MBA program at UoP and reviewing for the
upcoming December 2005 CISA certification exam.
An authority on remote and wireless
access and in pervasive computing solutions that promote virtual
access beyond conventional enterprise perimeters, he is well qualified to advise
clients on many IT to business aspects. Prior to
founding TBBIT, he firmly established his once hobby photography interest into a business and also
founded a start up atomicBee Productions - a video, post-production, and multimedia service.
He balances his business pursuits by
spending quality time with his wife Catherine and their 1 year old baby girl Sophie.
Otherwise, he would normally be seen sailing around San Francisco Bay or
maintaining an old 27' sloop named "Sasquatch" docked at the San Francisco
South Beach Marina. For him, sailing is the metaphor of what successful
businesses should have: sights and direction, flexibility, growth, passion, tools (technology),
leadership, management, maintenance, teamwork, and the safety and proper
caring of the crew. Of course, the final ingredient is having fun. He
quips, "If one of this is amiss, we might as well not sail at all." |
