As a senior analyst directly reporting to the Corporate IT/Telecomm Manager and the CTO: Directed multiple projects to achieve corporate-wide goals; Managed and lead various special projects and enterprise-wide IT initiatives; Provided assessment and development of corporate WAN standards such as IP VPN migration, and coordination with data and telecommunication vendors. Directed processes including project requirements definition; RFP development, distribution, and evaluation; contract negotiations; hardware, software and service provider procurement; and project implementation; Coordinated with professionals from various disciplines including legal, contracts, technology, vendors, and up to 4,000 remote access end-users; used new technology and project management tools such as Six Sigma performance improvement methodology.

 

Key accomplishments include:

  •   Re-engineered a $1.1 million/year dial-up remote access services (RAS) reducing total costs by at least 70% annually. Coordinated with various vendors and internal IT groups. Managed and lead an web-based integrated registration and billing systems design and development, improving and automating overall administration, registration, and billing processes.

  •   Lead corporate IT coordination, development and start-up of Bechtel’s Learning Management System, the main component of Bechtel’s internal on-line training program which improved the efficiency of proving training throughout the corporation.

  •   Lead corporate IT engagement in the assessment and implementation of systems that integrated multimedia onto the enterprise architecture, enriching corporate information flow of streaming video across the global enterprise network.

1996 – 1998

Directed rollout of Document Management Systems (DMS) on various engineering projects and other corporate functional entities.  Analyzed source of network-based application performance problems, coordinating with various departments to develop solutions.  Built Oracle database tables and integrated the database with customized vendor software.  Provided ongoing training classes for up to 20 attendees per session; Implemented and maintained Intel-based servers and PC workstations.

Engineering Projects included: The SF Muni Metro Turnback Project, CALTRANS Highways Retrofit Projects, Lucent Cellular, EuroDisney/MGM, PEMEX Cantarell, ARAMCO Ras Tanura Refinery, PTTNG Parallel Pipeline. Coordinated with various project-chain contacts in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.

Prior Bechtel Experiences
1974 – 1991

  •   Computer Aided Design (CAD) Supervisor, managed more than 20 CAD support staff – assigned tasks, managed project plans, and evaluated staff performances.  As resident expert, was assigned for 6 months at Bechtel’s London office to transfer knowledge to London's CAD team.

  •   Promoted through a range of positions from Junior Draftsman to Senior Designer - involved in major power plant design and development worldwide. Represented Bechtel to provide transfer of knowledge and support to the client’s Plant Design Group at the client’s office in Oregon.
